Our story

I'm Charleston native, Taylor Kirkman. I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, and if you know anything about the Low country you know that we are blessed to be surrounded by a wild and diverse amount of amazing seafood. From local fish, to shrimp, and oysters, fresh, quality seafood has always been a part of my life and making that great seafood available to all has been part of my dream for a long time!

In 2011 I got the chance to head up North. North to Alaska! A land full of prospects and adventure. That first summer of fishing in Alaska, I was introduced to a wonderful bounty of fish thriving beneath the icy waters! Wild Alaskan Salmon! The annual return of the native fish, is a miracle to witness each year, and the Salmon is a blessing to the state of Alaska, my family personally, and now, thankfully, to you all in the Low country!

In 2014 I met my wife Jennifer in her hometown of  Kodiak, Alaska. Growing up on an Island she already had her own appreciation for wild, quality, ethically harvested seafood. In 2018 we moved back to Charleston to my native roots, where we began our company, Salty Horizons Seafood.  Pulling crab traps in the coming warmth of Spring, culling oysters in the rain and cold of the coastal winter, and harvesting Sockeye Salmon under the midnight Summer sun of Alaska, every season has proven it's value in the ones that follow. By the grace of God alone, our dream of providing people in the Low country with wild, quality, traceable, sustainable, delicious seafood is here! We are so excited to share in the journey with you, from daily catch information and products, to recipes, old and new fish tales, artwork, and more!

We don’t just want to be a seafood purchase. We want to be the ones inspiring you to reach for the good stuff! The wild. The nutritious. The ethical. The delicious!

Knowing where your food comes from, truly is best when you have the chance to know the hands that harvested it.

That’s what we offer at Salty Horizons Seafood Company.

Seafood you and your family can trust and enjoy.

Seafood that means something.

A mission that preserves goodness.

Matthew 5:13-16
